About the Pastor
Jay grew up in a Christian family and became a Christian at a young age. He received a bachelor’s degree in Biblical Literature from Ozark Christian College in 2007 and was ordained as a Pastor by his home church, Christ’s Church of Oronogo. He worked as the Youth Minister and Associate Minister at First Christian Church in Cassville, Missouri from 2004-2007.
In 2008, Jay moved to Japan with his wife Caitlin and a team of church planters. After studying the Japanese language for 18 months, they planted Mustard Seed Christian Church in Nagoya, Japan in 2009. In the fall of 2011, Jay and Caitlin, along with Seth and Megan Philip, moved to Osaka and started Mustard Seed Christian Church Osaka on October 30th, 2011. In addition to teaching at the church’s weekly services, Jay has also had teaching opportunities at Poole Junior High and High School and Osaka Bible Seminary. He has also done evangelistic events with Matt Murton and Jason Standridge of the Hanshin Tigers.
Jay and Caitlin were married on December 31st, 2005 and have four children; Rowen, Leland, Isla, and Mac.
